Neil heads up the Employment practice at Cowan-Harper-Madikizela (CHM). He specializes in employment law; advising and representing multinationals, corporates, NGOs, SMMEs and individuals in all of the major sectors nationally.
He has extensive experience in employment disputes and has litigated successfully in all of South Africa’s major industrial tribunals and Courts, including the Labour Courts and Constitutional Court. His primary focus is to partner with clients to offer strategic advice to avoid disputes, and to resolve any that do arise quickly and cheaply.
His areas of interest and expertise include strike law, restructuring exercises, collective bargaining, whistleblowing disputes, review applications, workplace investigations and demarcation disputes.
He has had extensive interactions with Unions and successfully managed and advised on major disputes, investigations, restructuring exercises, collective bargaining processes, strikes and strike avoidance strategies.
He sat as an acting Judge of the Labour Court in 2018 and 2020 and has been recognised by BestLawyers for his expertise and skill for several years. He also served as a committee member for the SASLAW Gauteng Chapter between 2020 and 2022, before taking over the Employment practice at CHM in 2023.
